9 months old today!

Today is Aidan's 9 month birthday (we sang her happy birthday this morning). And she had her 9 month check-up today. Dr. Denison said that she looked great - except for her ears, which are still infected. If our latest course of antibiotics don't work, he's thinking about trying shots. Let's pray her ears clear up by next Friday when we have a recheck appointment. But, otherwise, she is healthy and growing well. Her stats were:
  • Height: 28 1/4 inches (75th percentile)
  • Weight: 19 pounds, 3 ounces (55th percentile)
  • Head: 17 1/8 inches (45th percentile)
In breaking Aidan news, last night she was playing with her Cherrios and actually picked one up and put it in her mouth. It may have been an accident, as the other 15 got fed to the dogs, but still, it is progress. She seems to have an idea about the Cherrio-mouth connection, but playing tiddly-winks is still more fun than feeding herself!

A week from Saturday we are having our homestudy (a meeting with an adoption social worker) as one of the last steps before Christianne can formally adopt Aidan. We are hoping the adoption will take place in mid-July. How exciting!

That's the news from here. Sorry there are no pictures today. Cindy

Almost 9 months

Aidan will turn 9 months on Thursday, May 31st. How exciting! Aidan says that even more exciting is that there are no shots scheduled for her 9 month check-up! I thought it would be fun to review where she's been in her stats:

  • Birth: 7 pounds 10 ounces, 20.25 inches

  • 2 weeks: 7 pounds 12 ounces, 21 7/8 inches

  • 1 month: 9 pounds 9 ounces, 22 3/8 inches

  • 2 months: 11 pounds 15 ounces, 23 1/2 inches

  • 4 months: 14 pounds 8 ounces, 26 1/4 inches

  • 6 months: 16 pounds 3 ounches, 26 3/4 inches

Pretty amazing, huh?

Cool things that happened this week include Aidan actually grabbing her bottle, putting it in her mouth (instead of just playing with the nipple) and drinking out of it and Aidan using a sippy cup on her own for the first time. Neither one lasted long, but she did them both. She's also sooooooo close to pulling up. She's still working on crawling. Today, she went to the church potluck and sat in her own high chair. She's teething up a storm. Still just one bottom front tooth poking through, but we think there are a couple more trying to show up.

This morning, she was fussing and I went to check on her and she was attempting to sleep while sitting in the lotus position and then bending over to put her head on the bed. Silly girl! She got to sleep in the big girl bed for a bit this morning. Aidan thought that was great! I think we have another round of ear infections. Poor little girl!

Month 8

We are behind in uploading pictures from Aidan's eighth month, but below are a few cute pictures. Month eight brought our first Mother's Day with Aidan. They made presents at daycare. There is a picture of it below. Aidan and I made Christianne a photobook at snapfish.com. Aidan and Christianne bought me a new Mommy charm for my bracelet - and tickets to Dancing with the Stars Tour.

In just the last few days, Aidan has taken a couple of tentative crawls (hand, hand, knee, fall down) and started to pull up on things (like her bouncer!). She loves to stand on her tip toes, which makes standing up a bit more challenging, so we are working on "heels down." We just switched from the infant carrier to the convertable carseat, which she seems to like as it is roomier. I like it because it is easier to install! Her 9 month check-up is next Thursday, May 31st. I can't believe it has been 9 months already!

Here are the pictures:

Now that Aidan is creeping around, she gets her hands washed a lot more frequently!

Months 6 & 7

Months six and seven brought new adventures for Aidan as well. In her 6th month, we all traveled to San Francisco so that I could present at a conference - and we saw lots of friends too! Gomma came along for a day. Christianne and Aidan had adventures in the City while I worked. We all had an adventure when Aidan had a reaction to Amoxicillin and we had to take a taxi trip to the hotel doctor! We all survived. The other big event for the month, as you can tell from the pictures, was getting to eat solid food. Aidan was a little unsure at first, but she has taken to it with gusto! This little girl eats about 18 ounces of baby food a day - plus 21 ounces in milk! During this time she also learned how to scoot on her belly to get the things she wants. Observe the remote control on the hotel bed!

Months 4 & 5

Hi everyone. This is Aidan. Before my Mommy posts more pictures of me, I just had to tell you what I did tonight. My Mommy was working on the pictures while my Mama was feeding me. Mama got the bowl too close to me and I GRABBED IT!!!! There was chicken and sweet potato and green bean puree all over the place. My Mama said a bad word when it happened, but I thought it was funny. I got to finger paint on my highchair tray. Mama had it all over her hand and her chair, but she didn't finger paint. I don't know why. Well, Mommy says it is time for her to tell about my pictures, so here she is. Love, Aidan.

Months 4 and 5 were busy for Aidan as well - especially month 4. She was baptized in January 2007. Her Grandma and Gomma both flew in for the service and her Gomma preached and played the flute. That was really special. Her other Godmother helped get her dressed and her Godfather loved on her. She also learned to sit up during month number 5 and FINALLY rolled over from her tummy to her back. Time to go play with Aidan a bit before bed time!

Months 2 and 3

Months two and three were also very busy for Aidan. She experienced her first Thanksgiving (and met more relatives), her first plane ride and trip to Oregon (and met more relatives - and got to see her Gomma as well as her Grandma), and her first Christmas. No wonder she sacked out so often!

One month old

After the first 4 weeks of life, things got busy for Aidan. She got to leave the house for things other than doctor's appointments. Grandma came to visit. She went to church for the first time. She got to meet the Maternal-Fetal Medicine doctor who kept her safe all those long 9 months. She went to her Mama's work to meet some friends there. Whew! It was a big month. Oh, and share learned to share her bouncer with Harley!

Pictures from Aidan's first weeks

Hi everyone! This blog is an attempt to catch everyone up on what Aidan is up to, share pictures, and eventually even share videos. I'm going through and creating slide shows of the various months of her life. Below are birth through week 4. Keep watching for other installments!
